Peak Season on the Amalfi Coast…
Hi Kathy!
We had a wonderful trip - despite the heatwave and the crowds…
The day on the private boat you arranged was especially awesome! And I wished we did another day like that (going the other way along the coast or to Capri) as everywhere on land was so crowded and hot!!
Every driver and guide we had were exceptional and really made the trip special so thank you for arranging that so brilliantly.
We loved the hotel in Positano - it was close enough to everything but also out of the crowds. Lovely pool, terrace and friendly staff.
The Path of Gods hike was SO FANTASTIC! Our guide, Luca, was absolutely delightful - he showed us every natural cooking herb possible! The views were spectacular. It’s something not to be missed. And thank you for suggesting we do it in the afternoon - that’s the way to go! We saw maybe 5 other walkers so it felt like our own private viewing experience.
The cooking class was super fun and the chef was delightful!!
But it was more watching them cook than we expected and way too much food (felt a bit wasteful).
Lunch at Don Alfonso was fabulous and we waddled around Sorrento in the heat for about an hour but we were really done by that stage!
I would say it was good to see Ravello but way too much driving for the time we were able to spend there and Amalfi was heaving with people so we didn’t stop.
It really is high season, as you described, so we knew it would be busy but yowza! So many people! Once we stop being tied to summer travel, clearly the thing to do is go in June or September/October.
Until next time, thanks again so much for everything!
Dorinda B.
